Are you seeking a creative, tech savvy web designer and social media strategist with a strong background in adult education and the health & wellness industry to help you get your products and services into the hands of those who need them?

Perhaps you can relate to one of my recent clients. She is a counsellor who has been working in the field for over 20 years. After working for others, she has decided to start her own practice. She is an expert in counselling and many have and will continue to benefit from her services. Yet, she has never needed to market herself and has no digital experience or online presence.  So, she reached out and asked for my help.

Who am I?

Arianna-28.jpg

My name is Arianna Merritt, M.Ed.

Web Designer. Content Creator. Social Media Strategist. Health & Well-being Expert.

Some know me for my education: A Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Carleton University and a Masters of Education in Applied Psychology and Human Development from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. However, what I am largely known for is my social media expertise and inspiring people globally through my widely popular blog, The Self-Discovery Retreat (formerly Arianna's Random Thoughts) which I started in 2010.

At that time, I was in my recent clients shoes, I had all this knowledge and training and had a strong desire to teach my expertise but no opportunity to do so. Instead of waiting and losing momentum, I took a leap and built my own online platform to empower others. It was scary as I had no blogging experience and no followers but doing so has been one of the best decisions of my life. I showed up.

"Eighty percent of success is showing up." - Woody Allen

A couple years into blogging as a hobby, I started to get emails like this:

"Hi Arianna, I was googling life coaching type blogs, and I've found yours, and I love your style of writing. I was originally searching for inspiration, as I'm a psychology graduate who is hoping to do something a bit more creative than the usual office job. May I ask, do you have any advice for establishing yourself as a life blogger so to speak? Any advice you could give me would be so appreciated.”

I wrote back and loved sharing what I learned. The same type of emails started to increase in frequency. Due to my experience teaching at a college and working with learners of all ages, I know that if one person has a question, odds are many others have the same question.

Since then, I have been helping people develop their online presence. To starting their blogs. To setting up their Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook profiles. To helping them manage their online reputation.

These individuals are students, coaches, consultants, authors, artists, musicians, politicians, athletes, personal trainers, lawyers, educators, hairstylists, small business owners, innovators and change makers who are working hard to make the world a better place.

Today, people turn online to search for businesses and help. If these individuals listed above do not have a web presence, to those future clients/customers, it is as if they don't exist. You need to have a presence so you can meet them where they are.

Since starting my blog, I’ve had the opportunity to:

  • Share my writing with hundreds of thousands of unique visitors on my site.
  • Written guest posts from global publications such as Psych Central, etc.
  • Reached out to and Interviewed 150+ amazing innovators and changemakers for my Coffee Chats with Arianna series.
  • Self-published a book based on the blog.
  • Got some amazing work opportunities.
  • Most of all, I've created such a beautiful community and made all sorts of life-long friends.
  • And so many more to mention.

I love blogging. It really has changed my life. I want to bring you light when you are going through a dark stage.

I know showing up can be scary as a beginner but I want to help you get in the water. That is why I am currently setting up a consulting practice & will be launching soon.  Sign up on the newsletter to get news of the launch.
